Hello Holla Shalom привет bonjour

Today is World Hello Day!

= = = = = = =
(from www.worldhelloday.org:)

November 21, 2008 is the 36th annual World Hello Day. Anyone can participate in World Hello Day simply by greeting ten people. This demonstrates the importance of personal communication for preserving peace.

World Hello Day was begun in response to the conflict between Egypt and Israel in the Fall of 1973. Since then, World Hello Day has been observed by people in 180 countries.

A lofty goal for 36 years. And look where its gotten us.

Prob'ly be better off riding on two wheels. That seems to promote peace and tranquility in me!

Ride Safe!

As a child, one of my family members from the old country (I always called him “Uncle Brian” though I don’t know if he was really my Uncle or not) used to always say in his deep Irish brogue “God to you” to which he taught us children to always reply respectfully, “God and Mary to you.”

Another greeting that is used frequently both in Ireland and the States is “Top of the Morning to you!” What most Americans don’t realize is that the common reply to that is “And the rest of the day to you.” Whenever somebody greets me this way, I usually return with that reply. They just look befuddled, but then most of the time end up smiling.

I’ve always preferred my Uncle’s greeting though, it always seemed a little more warm and sincere whenever he said it, and so I say to you Dave, and your wife Teresa, “God to you”.

Ride Well

What a great idea - unfortunately, it passed me by without my formally celebrating it, although I will say hello to you, and thanks for telling us about this!
